A long time with no updates here. That's actually an understatement. This page
has been dormant since December! Lots of stuff going on though. Rasa and I
really immersed in Whalers Hockey this year. We had Beau back at our place for
the full season and it was amazing. The team were heavily favored to win their
conference this year and ended up eliminated pre-maturely in the post season.
That was a bit of a gut punch. That's one thing about being involved with the
team at this level. The wins are that much better but at the same time, the
losses are that much worse. One silver lining came out of all this though and
that was that Beau signed a three year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes right
after the Whalers season ended. So he'll be heading off to their AHL club next
season. What does that mean for us next season? Not sure yet.
Music news? Nothing much! I've been continuing to really put a lot of effort
into my Stick playing and feel like I've really made some advances. Nothing
on the gigging circuit though. My attempts to get access to some of the
tourist events up in the north country have resulted in some brick walls.
I've also learned that even in the wonderful north country, there are some
serious douchebags out there and I have to try not to take it too personally.
I did do one really nice gig though at the Clarkston Center for the Performing
Arts. Our old Coup singers and 121normal singer Marykay is part of the group
and she invited me to come perform along with a band called "The Red Sea
Pedestrians". That was a fun gig! The whole atmosphere was great, the
organizers were wonderful, and the other band was excellent.
Last weekend, Rasa and I had dinner with Matt Wiliford up at Interlochen and
began discussin 2013. We have some cool ideas that I hope can become reality.
It's way too early to tell though. I have decided that I will likely be dusting
off my acoustic guitar and attending the 2012 Interlochen Fingerstyle Guitar
Workshop as a student.
